Whitney Capps Obituary, Death – Christian Author and Bible Teacher Dies After Cancer Battle
Whitney Capps, a Christian author, Bible teacher and speaker, has died following a yearslong battle with cancer. Her passing has left her husband, Chad Capps, their four sons, family members, friends and many people who were touched by her ministry mourning her loss.
Chad announced that Whitney died peacefully at approximately 4:25 a.m., sharing his grief while also reflecting on the Christian faith that carried their family through her illness.
Whitney had been living with stage 4 small-bowel cancer since she was diagnosed in August 2021. Over the years that followed, her experience with cancer became an important part of the testimony she shared through her writing, teaching and ministry.
Whitney Capps’ Cancer Journey and Faith
Whitney spoke openly about the realities of living with cancer and the difficult questions that can accompany serious illness. In a September 2026 devotional for Proverbs 31 Ministries, she reflected on the challenge of holding onto faith while facing suffering and uncertainty.
Rather than keeping her illness separate from her ministry, Whitney used her experiences to encourage others who were dealing with difficult circumstances. Her message often centered on God’s grace and the importance of trusting that grace even when circumstances were painful and answers were not clear.
Her yearslong cancer journey became another part of the story she shared with readers and listeners, offering encouragement to people navigating illness, grief and uncertainty.
Remembering Whitney Capps
Whitney was widely known for her work as a Christian author, speaker and Bible teacher. She served with Proverbs 31 Ministries and contributed to the First 5 Bible app, while also developing her teaching work through Simple Seminary.
She authored Sick of Me, We Over Me and The Melody of Grace and cohosted the Theology and Other Fun Stuff podcast. Through those projects, Whitney spent years helping people engage with Scripture and explore questions of Christian faith.
Outside of her professional ministry, Whitney was a devoted wife and mother. She and Chad raised their four sons, Cooper, Dylan, Ryder and Tate, outside Atlanta.
Those closest to her are now remembering not only her public work but also the role she played within her family. Her faith, compassion and willingness to speak honestly about difficult experiences became defining parts of the way many people came to know her.
Family Mourns Her Passing
Chad described Whitney as being “home with Jesus,” expressing the Christian hope that has accompanied the family’s grief.
Her death marks the end of a long and difficult chapter for a family that spent years confronting the uncertainty of cancer together. For Whitney’s loved ones, the coming days will be filled with both grief over her absence and memories of the life they shared with her.
Her ministry also leaves behind a community of readers, listeners and fellow Christians who found encouragement in her teaching and testimony.
Funeral Arrangements
The family anticipated holding a funeral service on Saturday, October 10, 2026, with visitation planned for Friday evening and again before Saturday’s service. The arrangements were described as tentative.
As family and friends prepare to gather in remembrance, Whitney Capps will be remembered for her work as an author and Bible teacher, her commitment to sharing Scripture and the faith she maintained throughout her battle with cancer.
Her loved ones are now mourning her loss while holding onto the message of hope and grace that Whitney shared with so many others throughout her life.
