Wayne Ameskamp and Michael Donahue Obituary, Death – Two Killed in Mississippi River Boating Accident
Wayne Ameskamp, 62, of Dyersville, Iowa, and Michael Donahue, 61, of Bellevue, Iowa, have been identified as the two people who died following a boating accident on the Mississippi River near Dubuque.
Authorities said the men were aboard a 16-foot fishing boat when it struck a submerged object during the incident on Saturday, Oct. 3. Both Ameskamp and Donahue were pronounced dead at the scene.
Sharon Ameskamp, 62, of Dyersville, was also aboard the boat and survived the collision. She was rescued by passing boaters who came to assist following the accident.
Emergency responders were called to the area at approximately 3 p.m. after receiving reports of a single-boat accident on the river.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation. Authorities have not released additional details about what caused the boat to strike the submerged object.
